Devcon 2016 WebDirect Series – Day 4 – Capture Signatures in WebDirect

What is this?

This set of demo files, developed by Mike Beargie, were designed to allow a user to digitally sign andĀ capture a signature via a WebDirect custom app using an elegant interface.

How does it work?

  1. A set of PHP and other code files is configured and hosted for web accessibility.

  2. A URL is assembled based to pass some parameters to the index.php page

  3. The index.php page captures the user’s signature using an elegant HTML5 canvas.

  4. The user clicks save and a second save.php page captures the signature to PNG writes it to FileMaker.

  5. A followup script is then executed in FileMaker to convert the image code into container contents.

How do I install it?

  1. Host the “FileMakerSignatureCapture.fmp12 file on your server and set the admin account password.
  2. Copy the “Code” folder contents to your FileMaker web host folder, or web site host of choice.
    1. On Windows, this is in Drive:/Program Files/FileMaker/FileMaker Server/HTTPServer/htdocs
    2. On OSX, this is Drive:/Library/FileMaker Server/HTTPServer/htdocs
    3. Edit lines 21-24 of save.php with your CWP info.
  3. Ready to go!

You can copy and paste this code freely into your solution, but this code is offered as-is, with no guaranteeĀ of support or function.
